Sa(n)jam knjige u Istri

Dear friends and colleagues,

The Book Fair(y) in Istria is a prominent annual Croatian literary event and the biggest book festival in South-Eastern Europe. The Pula Festival of books and authors features more than 80 events and hosts more than 250 programme participants each year. During the last eighteen years, the Book Fair(y) has hosted numerous well-known Croatian and foreign literary authors – Umberto Eco, Orhan Pamuk, Claudio Magris, Jirí Menzel, Irwine Welsh to name a few.

This year’s 19th Book Fair(y) will be held from  5th to 15th December 2013, under the theme Socialism on the Bench, with a special focus on contemporary Russian literature and Vojvodina – a region in the region.

This year, the Book Fair(y) will establish a new international Fellowship programme, which opens up new opportunities for business cooperation between literary event organizers, literary agents, translators, editors and publishers from Croatia, Europe and the world.

The programme is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, as part of its literary translation support programme.

The Fellowship programme, under the title Book Folks/Kumpanija od libra, will be held from 5th to 8th December 2013. We invite you to be a part of the programme and join us in presenting the publishing sector.

The number of participants is limited to twenty publishers (editors) and/or authors. Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible by filling in the application form or by sending an e-mail to sajam@sanjamknjige.hr, by no later than Monday, 11th October 2013.

The organizer will provide accommodation and food, and arrange a special tour around Pula and Istria. All travel expenses remain the responsibility of the participant.

Yours truly,

Magdalena Vodopija, Director-General
