BOOK F(OR)EVER

How do we even begin to read with awareness (free from curricular obligations and parental guidance)? When do we abandon books or, quite the contrary, become forever infected by reading? When do we read most passionately? In what period of our lives are we most powerfully grasped by the reading fever, the time when a book becomes forever a part of us? We would agree that it is sometime between the age of 14 and 18, the most turbulent coming-of-age period. High school period.

That is why we called our first ever programme for high schoolers Book F(or)ever.

The programme will be mentored by Kruno Lokotar and Emir Imamović Pirke (self-proclaimed Don Quattro) and it will include everything but the school obligatory read. In the morning hours, at the book fair’s grand scene, there will be comic book artists, graffiti artists, illustrators (Sylvain Coissard, Miron Milić, Vibor Juhas, Miha Perne and Leon Zuodar – Beli sladoled), HRT cinema’s documentary films on the subject of Island – Ghetto – Asylum, the Split local team (Boris Dežulović, Predrag Lucić, Ivica Ivanišević), musician Aleksandar Stojković of Goribor, young writer Borna Vujčić, idiosyncratic prose writer, visual artist and graphic material magician Boris Greiner, former Pula High School student Branko Semelić (1964-1968), and writer of European acclaim Dragan Velikić.

It is easy to note that the spirit of Art & Music festival and Strip Strasse pervaded this programme, which is no accident since one of the central focuses of all discussions with authors will be freedom of speech and civil disobedience.
