Mrđan Bajić
Mrđan Bajić was born in 1957 in Belgrade, graduating in sculpting from the Academy of Fine Art. He remained there working as an assistant teacher, but in the early nineties he moved to Paris (Cite Internationale des Arts) and upon his return he continued to teach as a full-time professor of sculpting. Immediately after his first solo exhibition in Belgrade, he exhibited in Zagreb (Gallery of Contemporary Arts, 1989), and last year in Split (Opet i ponovo) as well. His Resetrepresented Serbia at the 52nd Venice Biennale. “His pieces explore the significance and emotional values of different sculpting materials and techniques, seek new interpretations of space, deconstruct notions, combine figurative and abstract, lyrical and constructivist.”
