Senko Karuza was born in 1957 in Split, Croatia. He spent his childhood on the island of Vis and went to school in Vis, Split and Zagreb, where he studied philosophy. He lives and works on the island of Vis as the guardian of “the secret of the famous soup of Mala Travna bay”. The founder of the informal Mobile Multimedia Centre for Exploration of Alternative Survival Methods on Small and Outback Islands. His stories also originate from the experience of the island world which disappears and is then reborn: “To ourselves we also seem like we have been dead a long time,” he wrote in his collection Prsa u prsa.
