The Book Folks Fellowship Programme

At this year’s event, the Book Fair(y) in Istria will establish The Book Folks, a new international  fellowship programme aimed at supporting the book publishing industry. The programme is designed as a place of intercultural exchange, where domestic and foreign publishers, authors, translators, literary event organizers, literary agents and editors will have the opportunity to build new partnerships and make new business friendships. This professional programme will provide an opportunity for promoting the Croatian and regional literary and publishing scenes, while the Fair(y) itself might turn into a "fertile ground" for negotiating translations of Croatian authors, buying and selling copyrights and presenting authors that might be interesting to foreign book markets, and vice versa. The growing international interest in the Book Fair(y) has increased the need for this kind of programme, which will certainly contribute to the development of cultural infrastructure and literary production.
